“Put Things into Perspective”

Perspective: “a particular attitude towards or way of regarding something; a point of view”

Perspective ultimately is about choosing to speak in a way that minimizes complaining and negativity – Deliberately changing our mindset for the better to really enjoy the life we have been given.

Scenarios:

Negative: Your partner decides to go surfing for a few hours every Saturday during the late morning hours.  It makes him happy.  You still find this unfair, because he should be spending all his free time with you on the weekends. Arguments breakout.

Optimistic:  Instead of getting upset – you shift your perspective and plan some fun activities during those few hours he is away e.g catching-up with a friend or going for a run/jog you have been wanting to do for a while.

Negative: Every weekend  for the next 2 months, you will need to study for that big exam – you clearly understand why you need to do this. Though your choose to sacrifice weekend enjoyment over studying – this choice is causing you frustration. Whilst you understand the need to study, you are constantly complaining to your friends about studying. They are tired of hearing you complain.

Optimistic:  You now shift your perspective from seeing  studying as a chore but a driver to achieving that big goal.  Now instead of complaining – you plan out your weekends more effectively and efficiently so now you are able to fit in some exercise and spend a few hours with family and friends.

It said that constant practice in putting things into perspective – will automatically change a person. Hope…

A few quotes below to inspire our week:

” Happiness is a state of mind – it is just according to the way – you look at things”

-Walt Disney

“When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves”

-Victor Frankl

Have a great week!
