In the world of change and transformation projects, you occasionally encounter truly exceptional individuals—leaders. Not only because they are masters of their craft or exceptional problem-solvers who roll up their sleeves and do the hard work alongside the team to move mountains, but because they remain joyful and kind in the midst of the storm.

One of these leaders is Sandra.

She was entrusted by another exceptional leader with one of the most challenging projects within our change and transformation team, and watching her lead was a lesson in grace under pressure.

She addressed problems with a soft tone and firm confidence.

• She laughed—at moments when laughter would have seemed almost inappropriate, given the number of fires breaking out around us. And yet, she made space for lightness in a way I’ve experienced few leaders do overall.
• She showed intuitive kindness, sensing when someone needed extra care, attention, or a thoughtful farewell.
