Leading with Longevity: Let the tension go
So many of us carry tension quietly, constantly in our minds, bodies, and hearts. This tension may take the shape of unforgiveness, frustration, anger, sadness, accumulated irritations, or even a creeping sense of hopelessness.
Tension shows up in many forms: tight muscles, shallow breathing, and an unsettled mind. But one common thread I’ve observed is its deep connection to stress.
What if, each morning, midday, and evening, we took just a moment to pause and check in with ourselves? To notice where tension is starting to settle or take over—and to choose, in that moment, to do something about it.
Maybe it’s a few deep breaths.
A walk to clear your head.
A conversation to release what’s been weighing on your heart.
And sometimes, the tension we feel is a sign that something bigger needs to shift. But the important thing is that we listen—that we respond, rather than ignore.
Because when we leave tension unaddressed, it doesn’t simply disappear. It can turn into something unkind within us—physically, emotionally, spiritually.
So let’s not waste time.
Notice the tension. Address it. Be kind to yourself.
This post was inspired by a conversation I recently had with a friend.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
