Find Wellness 2 : Thinking vs doing
“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done” Bruce Lee
A young man use to say, “I want to be a chef, but I will sign up to a cooking course tomorrow. Tomorrow arrived and he said ” I still want to be a chef, but I will sign up to the course next month” He kept on saying that and all of a sudden 40 years had passed by and the man was now 70 years old.
Out of the blue, a chef knocked on his door. The chef was asking the local community if they would be interested in coming to taste his community kitchen menu for free. The man, now in his 70s said, I would love to. He shared that he always wanted to be a chef, but he put his dreams aside because of busyness and short term thinking.
The chef, listened attentively and said: “you are welcome to visit my kitchen, watch us cook and if you still enjoy the experience, you can become a part-time intern in my kitchen” The man hesitated for a few seconds and answered, “yes I would love to do that” After a few months of training, the man spent every Tuesday helping the chef in the kitchen cook one of his main dishes.
Thanks to the random “Act of Kindness” from the chef who asked the old man to intern in his kitchen, the man put aside his fears and followed his heart to become a chef even for a short while.
