Time with our parents

“Children start out loving their parents, but as they grow older and discover that their parents are human – they become jugdemental. And sometimes when they mature – they forgive their parents when they discover they are human” Oscar Wilde

If you are in your 30s and older and you have parents who are still alive, there is time to appreciate them. We sometimes forget that they will not be around for ever as we focus on ourselves and various life priorities.

There must be a fraction of time in the day to  show our parents some kindness.  So here are some ideas to connect with them before its too late:

Action:

  • Call them at a set time regularly.
  • Try to send them a gift that will bring them joy
  • If they live in the same city or country – have them over for the day or for lunch. If there is no time to cook- take them out. Keep it simple and less stressful.
  • Be kind and patient with them.

Some might say – “you don’t know my mum or my dad and the lesser contact I have with them the better”  this may be true, but when they are gone – you will regret not showing them more gratitude and kindness, despite their imperfections.

One life live it kinder and grateful.
